We trust you have had a great week. It sure has been wet but at least we can head indoors to keep exercising.
Its great to be able to have options with your training to suit the weather conditions and of course to suit what your body is after.
For those who came along to our Wellness Retreat last weekend, they were able to experience the different types of training that can be used for different emotional and physical states that they may find themselves in.
When your amped up and feeling energised, some good hard and fast workouts can be beneficial for you and release that adrenaline buzz. Think HIIT classes, crossfit, sprint training, circuit training etc.
When your feeling exhausted either physically or emotionally, then using activities such as yoga, pilates, stretching and meditation can be a great way to use your body in a more restorative fashion. These exercises help you focus on your breath and to get you in touch with your own body.
If your feeling confused or overwhelmed but the body is energised, then you can’t go past strength training for some grounding work.
Think heavy strength work, pump classes or gym stick to move your muscles and to think about your technique. When you can focus on just the movement, it can help clear the mind.
If your feeling the need to move your body but not have to think or be over taxed, then cardio training can be an excellent way to get into a fluid, almost meditative state while moving the body. Think long walks, running, swimming, cycling for longer sessions that get your body into a good rhythm.
Take note of how your body is feeling and then be adaptable to changing your training week to suit.
We know a lot of you are now heading back into the gym, so this is a great time to get a new programme or some inspiration again for the gym, so do feel free to contact us both if you are after some great new ideas too.
